Job Descriptions
Finance Committee 
(Potential time commitment, approx 4 – 10 hours per month)
- Research funding and grant opportunities and sources
- Develop and maintain database of funding and grant sources and a list of contacts for funding information and assistance.
- Keep track of funding and grant deadlines
- Write and submit grant proposals and applications
- Report to SAMS board at least once per month.
Marketing & Promo 
- website content updating (mostly automated but events need to be added tocalendar)
- Writing or eliciting concert reviews/comments for website and posting to the Daily Shout
- Moderate posts (removal of spam) on website
- Artists Consignment marketplace (on website)** further demonstrating a commitment to the community by offering a free service for Members who are artists.
- Works with a committee to come up with further marketing strategies
- Receives and vets Press Release and sends off to Creston Valley Advance
- Receives and vets Poster and ensures all the information is there
- Picks up posters from PO Box and passes over the poster to....(whomever)
- Creates and distributes Upcoming at the Sasquatch via e-mail
- Passes on Upcoming at the Sasquatch for physical distribution
- Postering (putting up posters at bulletin boards, sourcing new locations to advertise free, updating the master list of places to advertise)
- Follows through with advertising to Creston Daily Shout; Creston Valley Events
- Deliver monthly calendar of events with invites (door to door) to residential
Open Stage Host 
- Maintains the sign-up board
- Checks in with performers to get info regarding sound & set-up requirements
- Arranges performers in a varied program
- Introduce the evening
- Opens with own set (if desired – can place it anywhere in program)
- Promote memberships through evening
- Promote coffee bar through evening
- Make everyone comfortable, maintain positive vibe
- Thank participants, close the evening
Sound Tech 
- Needs a well-trained “ear!”
- Receives training from Jackie
- Meets with musical performers and helps performers with setting up any cables etc. they may need help with. Conducts sound check.
- Comes to show early and plays Cds until show starts
- As per Jackie’s instructions, works the sound board during the concert
- Ensures everything is put away at the end of the show.
Performance Bookings 
Initial contact from artist to you, copy to “Other” booking agent in case you're gone (OR we change the e-mail addy online every time you're not here). This means that the back-up person doesn’t answer the artist unless s/he knows you're out of town.
- Vet the music
- Negotiate time and price details
- Ask them for their blurb for the website
- Remind them to go back to website to refer to Responsibilities/Poster Info.
- Put the initial info & blurb on the web/Calendar
- Ticket creator checks Calendar and prepares and delivers tix to Kingfisher
- Handle any queries re sound, check-in and other needs
Other Bookings 
- Receives e-mail or telephone call regarding bookings for meetings, private rentals, workshops, classes etc.
- Checks website and with Performance booking agent to confirm dates and times.
- Confirms with client
- Updates website with that information OR passes along to a separate promo person
- Arranges for client to have key
- Ensures venue is clean and ready
The Door 
- Requires someone who is comfortable/good with numbers, money and people:
- Someone who can multi-task. This job also entails not only selling tickets and/or
memberships: - keeping statistics and paying the Artist and the owner.
- Full details/procedures for the two jobs “Ticket Seller” and “Membership Sales” can be found at the Snoring Sasquatch.
- Currently, we also need this person to come in early (6 pm) to ensure the venue is tidied and the bathroom is ready.
- The perk of this/these two jobs is that you are also hearing/watching the performers at no cost (other than your time.)
Membership Committee 
- Direct membership sales including at events
- Maintain Membership Database
- Database updates
- Phone for renewals of expired and expiring members
Event Fundraising 
- Develop ideas for fundraising events
- Plan and run fundraising events
- Work with volunteer coordinator to organize volunteers for events.
- Work closely with Marketing and Finance committees to fund and promote events.
- Report to SAMS board at least once per month.
Executive Positions 
When the executive is working toward something imminent, for example: creating and negotiating a lease or the charitable status application, then the time commitment can be 2-hour weekly meetings. There is also whatever tasks we volunteer to complete.
By June of 2010 we anticipate being able to meet once a month.
Currently we need:
SECRETARY
- Take notes at the meeting
- Turn the notes into Minutes and distribute
- If we have a Membership volunteer then that is the extent of the job.
