DOORS OPEN AT 6:30; Jackie Gingras-Coe opens at 7:30 pm followed at 8pm by Purves Smith. Ruth Purves Smith and the 581 are promising a rollicking country rock party, releasing their amazing debut album, 'Out In The Storm' to a waiting fan base and new fans alike! 'Out In The Storm' is receiving radio play and charting across North America, receiving stellar reviews and bringing the band to a whole new level of awareness.

"Ruth’s childhood rambled the prairie highways between urban and country homes. Her mother, a cultured English teacher, lived in the city, and her father and stepmother operated an antique woolen mill in Rural Alberta. This paradox is apparent in Ruth’s music. While the stories may appear to be simple, traditional country, they are supported by a sound that pulls influence from the city: complicated, restless and sometimes loud. The story of Ruth’s career is no different." Her recently released solo album 'Out in the Storm' is "built on a foundation of driving, electric country rock, laced with banjo, harmonica and acoustic guitar, Ruth constructs spine tingling imagery and emotion with her lyrics, and the entire package takes you through the gamut of emotions."

Opening for Ruth will be our own Jackie Gingras-Coe. Jackie spent many years as a staple on the Calgary music scene through the 80’s and 90’s. As a member of The Hooper Triplets, a trio of women fusing Celtic music with Roots and Blues, with the energy of Rock and Roll they opened for such greats as Wilf Carter and The Family Brown. A dynamic singer and entertainer, Jackie’s vocals led The Remnants, a rock and roll, and R&B band in the 90s’, to open for acts such as The Powder Blues Band, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, and Matt Minglewood. She reunited with The Hooper Triplets and added three more women to form RoseHip. This endeavour led to the main stage at the number one Stampede venue, Dusty’s, for 6 years. During this time the band became the house act for the cast and crew of Lonesome Dove, the Series.
